TDC April Athlete of the Month!

When it comes to inspiring other athletes, look no further than our Team Dillon Athlete of the Month David Inglis.

Despite breaking his rib and finger after coming off his bike at the beginning of the month, David has bounced back to training. His passion and work ethic is inspirational, his thirst for life and his own personal goals are infectious, a true asset to Team Dillon, over to you David…

Name: David Inglis

Age: 51 Yrs old

Training Location: Perthshire, Scotland

Proudest sporting moment to date? Swimming 10km for Swimathon in 2013 after teaching myself to swim 2 years before.

When did you start triathlon and why? 2011 I did my first Super Sprint distance after completing Swimathon I needed the next challenge and Triathlon seemed mad enough for me!

What made you choose Team Dillon? Emma Pallant World Duathlon Champion and her sales pitch to me, saying that she would take on an obese newbie like me and turn me into an athlete!                                                                                                                  

Best thing about being a member of Team Dillon? Having fantastic support from my coach, knowing that I am part of a team and wearing the Team kit with pride!

What are you most looking forward to next year? Being competitive and not just being able to complete the event.

If you weren’t an athlete what would you do? Drink New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc , watch Formula 1 and be obese!

Do you spend more on food or tri gear? No brainer Tri Gear!

 What is your favourite training session? The session that I know I have nothing left apart from the biggest smile when I collapse afterwards (it’s probably a bike to run session!)

What gets you through tough days of training? Knowing that after every session I am getting better and better.

What is your most favourite thing to do on a rest day? Spend quality time with my family.

How do you best recover from a hard session? A hot bath, compression gear and an ice cold glass of coconut water.

What is your favourite motivational slogan? Enjoy every moment as if it’s your last.

What would you recommend as a good source of triathlon media? 220 Triathlon Plus

 What’s your favourite movie? Blade Runner with Harrison Ford

What’s your favourite training tune? Anything with a strong rock beat, like 5 Seconds of Summer.

If you were to take a 5 hour road trip to a race, who would you want in the car? Sebastian Vettel.

 If you could only take three objects onto a desert island what would they be? (no escape mechanisms allowed!;) MTB, Guitar & art materials.

Where do you see yourself in five years from now? As happy as I am today, training hard and loving life to the max.
